The Merchant’s House in Old Perithia offers a unique glimpse of the island as it was in times gone by. Our boutique B&B combines the luxury of an independent four star hotel with the enchantment of a traditional B&B, creating a truly original experience.
This, the oldest village on the island, used to be a hideaway from pirate attacks, which blighted mountain villages and towns near to the coast. Old Perithia at 408m, nestles below Mount Pantokrator, 906m and the highest point on Corfu.
We discovered it on one of our trips and loved the clean mountain air, the spirit of the place, the mood and beauty of the landscape, the undisturbed charm of its houses and churches. The village had a few popular tavernas but nowhere to stay, and so...
During ‘a year in Corfu’, working closely with the archaeological department, we faithfully restored a row of mid 17th century 'Merchant's Houses' in this protected heritage site. From Spring until Autumn, in an area of great natural beauty, we open to guests who seek a unique, exclusive and atmospheric place to stay.
Stroll through the cobbled paths, admire the characteristic houses with their Venetian origins, explore the surrounding countryside, or enjoy the peace and quiet, rest and relaxation. The glorious beaches of the north east are just 20 minutes drive away.
In the evening we welcome you back to the gentle luxury of our boutique B&B where, resting on our terrace beneath unpolluted night skies, you can listen to the sounds of the Ionian night as it settles over the hills.
