The image below was taken on the morning of Corfu’s bid to be a European Capital of Culture for 2021 (02/23/2016) in a hotel in the centre of Athens where potential candidates were all pitching to the ECoC jury. The presentation of Corfu was given with the aim of qualifying Corfu as a candidate city. This could then put Corfu into the second and final phase for the promotion of Corfu as a Cultural Capital for 2021. The presentation was made by Mayor Costas Nikolouzos, and the other foreign and Greek experts from the team, before the 12-member Committee.
The cities are to be shortlisted, and those passing to the next stage will be announced on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 5.30 pm at the Ministry of Culture. Mark & Saskia were kindly asked to be part of this and Saskia attended on our behalf, gave a brief speech and joined the team in the Q&A session. The team were delightful and we’ll keep you posted on the outcome.
